If desired, for a bushier plant that produces more flower-producing side branches, pinch young plants back by half their height when plants have formed 4-6 leaves or are approximately 8-10cm tall. Pinching will delay the crop time by a few weeks. If pinching, space plants 15-30cm apart. Direct seeding is not recommended.
Height: When grown as a one-cut, stems can be as long as the full height of the plants. When grown for multiple cuts per plant, stems vary in length at 30-90cm.
Planting advice:
Light is required for germination, but a fine layer of vermiculite covering the seeds can maintain moisture levels and prevent algae growth.
Germination should occur in 7–14 days at 21–24°C.
After emergence, maintain a soil temperature of 18–24°C.
After the seedlings have 3–5 true leaves, grow at 10–14°C at night and 16°C during the day.
Snapdragon Potomac will flower in mid spring to early autumn. They take around 110 days to flower.
Sow: Autumn, late winter and spring
Harvest: Florets on lower 1/3- 1/2 of the spike are open.
