Common Name: Blue Flax Lily
Scientific Name: Dianella brevipedunculata
Life Cycle: Perennial
Remarks: An evergreen native with long green leaves that produces yellow and purple flowers that then turn into small round bright blue berries. Flowers in late Spring, good for attracting native wildlife and insects. Endemic Eastern Australia.
NOTE: Other species of Dianella (tasmanica and intermedia) are known to be toxic and should not be eaten. When growing edible native food, the consumer should do their own research first if planning on consuming.
