Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show 2026

Back in March Holly, myself and our girls + Louis popped over from the island to the big smoke for the day to see for the first time the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show 2026. This has been something Holly and I have been talking about for years, so it was so nice to be able to make it happen!

Arriving in melbourne city it was hot and the excitement was real! The exhibition building where the show was held was absolutely spectacular. Walking in there were flowers hanging from the ceiling, co-ordinated into colour installations.

Collaboration with florists working together on sculptures featuring just one or just a few types of flowers, dried and fresh.

We saw a lot of Australian wildflowers featured in exhibitions inside and out and some stalls selling potted plants, with crowds of excited gardeners taking home goodies!

A walk through of a collection of local flower farms was amazing, you can tell that they are all working together with an emphasis on supporting locally grown flowers. This is where I lost one small child, full panic set!

Outside the building the outdoor garden set ups were amazing. Featuring Australian outdoor living with lots of Australian natives, some cottage gardens and an ode to Australian shack life.

So many things for the kids to do and explore!

Leaving we went past some lovely bunches of flowers, wishing we could take bunches of the blooms home - but alas Tassie biosecurity would say no.

Overall such a great day, we ran out of time to see everything but could feel such a sense of community that flowers and gardening brings to people. The kids travelled with us so well and we were all exhausted by the time we got back to the airport for the short flight home.

One mission was not complete though.... but were on the look out for Costa, but did spy a Costa cutout in the Gardening Australia stall.

We will definitely be back next year, but next time not just for the day so we can see everything - as there were some things we missed!
