Common Name: Native Juniper, Western Boobialla, Blueberry Tree.
Scientific Name: Myoporum insulare
Remarks: A tall shrub to small tree 2 - 6m high with ascending branches and a low densely foliaged rounded crown.
Flowers are white with purple spots inside.
Fruits after one year, the sweet fruit can be eaten raw or cooked.
Flowering mainly in spring and summer.
Plant Height: 2-6m
When: Spring + Autumn are best, but can be sown all year round.
Sowing Depth + Method: Carefully crack the outer seed coating, taking care not to damage the inner seed. Soak for 24-48hrs in warm water. Raise seedlings.
Position: Full Sun
Days until germination: Can be slow, taking a several months, in some cases can take 12 months. Sow 3mm deep @ 18-22 degrees. Keep moist and warm until germination occurs.
