Celosia ‘Dusty Rose’
Celosia argentea plumosa
This stunning mix is the most unusual range of rose gold, blush, and champagne plumes that look as if they have been dusted with iridescent glitter. The stocky, heavily branching plants have dark ruby-red stems with cranberry-veined leaves that perfectly offset the antique-looking metallic flower heads.
Please note that this variety is still a work in progress and is not 100% uniform, so you will undoubtedly find a few off types in the mix. Floret will continue to refine and improve this selection, but are making it available before it’s “perfect” for you to grow and enjoy.
To help you have more success growing these special varieties, each seed order will include a printed growing guide with step-by-step instructions.
Details:
Planting depth: 3mm
Germination soil temp: 21 degrees – 26 degrees C
Days to germination: 5 to 7 days
Site: full sun
Plant spacing: 22cm to 30cm
Pinch: when 15 to 20cm tall
Days to maturity: 90 to 100 days
Height: 90 to 100cm
Approximate seeds per packet: 100
How to Grow:
Sow seeds indoors in trays or pots 4 to 6 weeks before your last frost. Seeds are tiny, so barely cover with soil. Celosia is very cold sensitive, so wait until all danger of frost has passed before planting outside. Celosia can also be direct-seeded once weather is consistently warm.
Harvesting/Vase Life:
Harvest once flower heads reach desired size, but before they go to seed. Strip 80 percent of the foliage off during harvest. Do not put in the cooler. Expect a vase life of 10 to 14 days. Flowers can also be dried for later use. To dry, hang freshly cut stems upside down in a warm, dark place for 2 to 3 weeks or until they are firm to the touch.
