Lucia Fischer is the the talent behind Wild Raven a range of Botanical products made by hand in the little country village of Woodbridge, Southern Tasmania.
We chatted to her recently:
What led you to starting your small business Wild Raven?
I grew up with a few influential female figures who were keen gardeners, but my family rented and we moved a lot. My dream was to own my own home and grow my own garden. So I've always been into plants and herbs but when I was in my 20s I got heavily interested in herbal remedies and DIY skincare. I started making all my own products for myself, for my family and friends and then I slowly began selling them. I eventually made the move to country Tasmania with my husband and we bought a block of land on the edge of a blue gum forest. It was a lot of work building a house and starting a garden from scratch but it was all worth it. I'm now the proud owner of a productive herb garden that generously supplies me with an abundance of botanicals for my small, but lively, herbal skincare business.

Tell us about the ingredients used in your products?
My brand ethos focuses on sourcing the highest quality ingredients available. This means everything is fully natural, organic, fair trade and palm oil free. I use a mixture of homegrown herbs, ethically wildcrafted plants and high grade essential oils which I combine with carefully sourced organic butters and oils.
In short, how are your products created?
All my products are handcrafted in small batches using traditional processes. I love to work with the healing power of herbs and where relevant I also sync my processes with the phases of the moon to infuse my products with lunar energetics.
Tips on using your balm?
It's a
balm for hardworking hands that need some TLC so it is very rich and nourishing. It may feel thick at first but it only takes a minute to soak in and your hands will thank you for it.
What is your favourite flower?
This is such a hard question to answer! At the moment I'm really loving paper daisies aka strawflowers. They have such a lovely and unique papery texture that is perfect for fresh and dried flower arrangements. And because they grow so well in my climate without much fuss.
