Frost hardy annual that grows well in cooler, elevated climates. Prefers part shade, dappled light conditions. Grows best in slightly acidic, peaty, organic, well-drained but moist soil. Do not allow to dry out in spring/summer by using mulch. Do not disturb in winter when it dies back.
Can be difficult to germinate. Start seedlings in pots in a cool, shady place in early spring. Once established the Meconopsis grandis is a hardy perennial.
Keep seeds cool prior to sowing, pre chill for 3 weeks to sowing.
